Other features includes an opulent First bar with a wide range of premium beverages and a quiet work area. Guests can also dine in the airline’s upgraded dining room before they fly to maximise rest on their flight. A new boutique menu created by Executive chefs Gavin Mackenzie and Waylon Walker will include dishes influenced by the season, as well as a new ‘bowl food’ concept designed to offer guests a chance for a lighter option.

Carolina Martinoli, British Airways’ Director of Brand and Customer Experience, said: “We fly thousands of customers between London and New York every week so we’re absolutely dedicated to making the experience as relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Cairo airport gets a new Emirates lounge

Emirates unveiled its 42nd dedicated lounge across its global network at Cairo International Airport.

Catering to three daily flights, the lounge offers guests even greater levels of comfort, hospitality and convenience as they start their Emirates experience in Cairo. Located at Departure Terminal 2, Level 2, above the secondary security check & Duty Free area, Emirates’ customers can look forward to relaxing, unwinding and enjoying award-winning service and cuisine.

“Cairo is our first destination in North Africa with an Emirates Lounge – and it underscores our relentless efforts to enhance the travel experience that we offer to customers. We are committed to the highest standards of quality in every aspect of our business and the new Emirates Lounge is a testament to that,” said Mohammed Mattar – Divisional Senior Vice President, Emirates Airport Services.

ZRH LX Busi Sen Terminal A
New Zurich Business and Senator Lounges

SWISS has opened its redesigned Lounge Center A at Zurich Airport on Monday 2 July. The new centre extends to a Business and a Senator Lounge and boasts a modern zonal concept with a range of privacy options, market hall-style food areas, elegant Swiss-made furniture and clear SWISS design lines.
In addition to the traditional reception desk, each of the separate entrances to the new Business and Senator Lounges will also feature two automated entry gates permitting swift boarding-pass access to the lounge concerned. Inside, guests may enjoy lounge niches, a bar area with views of the Airside Center, workstations and even individual offices to a relaxation room complete with inviting loungers.

Smokers are catered for in both lounges, too, with new outside areas. And for travellers wishing to freshen up before (or after) their flight, the new facilities offer five showers that are accessible from either lounge. The lounges’ food areas, meanwhile, have been devised along market-hall lines, and each include both a large bistro section and a front cooking zone.

With bright oiled-Swiss-oak parquet floors and elegant furniture from such top Swiss designers as Vitra and deSede, the new lounges offer both a consistent SWISS-style look and a living-room ambience.

A further highlight is the new “SWISS Alpenstübli” within the Business Lounge, in which The Airline of Switzerland will present its home country in all its regional variety on a series of large screens. The room is also decked out with allergy-friendly straw wallpaper, and uses a 3D model to give guests a unique visual impression of SWISS’s national home.

The new Qantas Perth Lounge

The Perth International Transit Lounge was unveiled and offers a range of unique features including ‘light therapy’ in the shower suites to help adjust the body clock, a wellbeing studio with stretching classes and a refresh area providing hydrating face products. Guests can dine in an open-air terrace with a BBQ serving gourmet dishes by Neil Perry.

Qantas Head of Customer Product & Service, Philip Capps, said an emphasis on wellness in the lounge design was a whole new approach to long-haul travel.
“This sophisticated lounge is the ideal space for customers to unwind in between flights. The design reflects the natural beauty of the WA landscape through natural light and colour choices, and offers some of the best local food and wine.”
Charles Perkins Centre Professor of Sleep Medicine, Peter Cistulli, said the overarching goal was to enhance the passenger travel experience and optimise wellbeing.
“We’ve worked with the University of Sydney’s School of Physics to create an airline-first bespoke body clock intervention using bright light to help kick start the adjustment of customers’ body clocks. Applying light at appropriate times helps reduce the effects of jet lag,” Professor Cistulli said.

The interior is spacious and modern, and the unique curved ceiling promotes the infiltration of natural light.

Premium hot and cold buffet serving light dishes including soups with homemade damper, healthy salad bowls, crudité and dips. A full service bar with premium wine and beer from Australia.
