Qatar Airways unveils new Al Mourjan Lounge

Qatar Airways has unveiled its new Al Mourjan Business Lounge at Doha`s hamad International Airport. As one of the largest lounges in the world, with 10,000 sq.m. and spanning two levels, it can accommodate up to 1,000 guests at a time.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “Qatar Airways has been known for years for our award-winning Premium Terminal at DIA. We are now very pleased to be able to offer our Premium passengers our new premium lounge, which sets new benchmarks in airport luxury and will far exceed our passengers’ expectations. Qatar Airways does not compromise on quality and the Al Mourjan lounge is the perfect example of this as it is the epitome of comfort, convenience and five-star service that our Premium class passengers have come to expect from us. We look forward to welcoming them to this superior lounge experience.”

Paired with high-end lighting technology, Al Mourjan Lounge offers a fresh, relaxing atmosphere with an abundance of natural sunlight.

A wide variety of dining options is offered, ranging from light bites to seated dining in the mezzanine level. To mention is  the 15m x 7m infinity pool water feature, which sits at the base of the spiral staircase, lit by a spectacular four-tired chandelier, to the second lounge level.

Guests are able to use the dedicated business center completed with a conference suite, personal Internet workstations, printers and scanners. Executive-level seats are cattered throughout the lounge and come with a private Flight Information Display System monitor, a reading light and personal power and data outlets.

Other features include private quiet rooms, games room for children offering PlayStation pods and a Formula 1 driving simulator, prayer rooms, a nursery and shower rooms with free amenities, restrooms and a smoking area.

Al Mourjan Lounge is located in the Main Terminal, on the 2nd Floor and is open 24 hours a day.

Emirates Lounge is open at Glasgow Airport

Emirates has opened a new lounge at Glasgow Airport by airline’s President Sir Tim Clark. Glasgow becomes the 36th lounge in Emirates` network and its 14th lounge in Europe.

Tim Clark commented: “Our new Emirates Lounge at Glasgow, the largest at the airport, represents a significant Euro 2.6 million direct investment. We have seen passenger numbers grow as we progressively developed our services and invested in Glasgow. The lounge opening today is a testament to the success of our double daily operation. It will be an unrivalled premium airport experience for our passengers travelling to popular destinations, including Bangkok, Perth, Sydney, and Singapore via our hub in Dubai.”

The Emirates Lounge can seat 139 passengers in an area of 736 square meters with runway views. Guests can enjoy an extensive buffet of Scottish and international gourmet dishes, as well as a complimentary full-bar service. Other services include a fully equipped business center with Wi-Fi connection, TV, reading areas, shower facilities and a prayer room. Furnished with Italian marble floors, gold Rolex clocks, plush leather armchairs and mahogany furniture, in line with the worldwide Emirates quality standards. With a relaxing water feature and bespoke artwork, the courteous service from a dedicated team completes the signature Emirates Lounge experience.

It`s located just a short walk from Emirates` boarding point at Gate 30.

Hong Kong Airlines held an opening ceremony at Hong Kong International Airport for its new Airport VIP Lounge. The lounge features modern, state-of-the art facilities and Hong Kong-style interiors with a touch of local flavor. Situated on the 6th floor of Terminal 1, near Gate 23,  this facility provides an area of more than 500 sq.m. and may accommodate up to 120 guest at a time.

Designed by Phill Cheng, a local designer, the VIP lounge will display different themes of interior decorations changing every season. The current theme "Hong Kong Architectur", displays Hong Kong`s greatest charms in its unending contrast between the old and the new.

The menu presents a variety of local foods and beverages, such as egg puffs, cart noodles, bean curd jelly, silky milk tea and traditional steamed bowl rice.

Furthermore, guests may enjoy a relaxing resting area with semi-private resting zones, shower services, two private conference rooms, an entertainment zone and a business center supported by iMacs and high-tech display monitors.

"The new VIP Lounge not only satisfies customer`s basic needs, but makes them feel home and love Hong Kong more," remarked Mr Sun, Vice President of Hong Kong Airlines.

With Lufthansa you can relax even before you fly off on your well-deserved summer holiday! This year Frequent Travellers will once again have the opportunity of purchasing lounge access for their whole family. The only requirement to be fulfilled: the Frequent Traveller’s family – spouse or partner and children up to 18 years of age – must be travelling together with the Frequent Traveller on a Lufthansa-operated flight.

This offer applies until 7 September 2014 to all Lufthansa Business Lounges within Germany, in the USA and at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. The required voucher can be bought at the Lufthansa ticket counter at the departure airport or directly from the Lounge reception desk in Frankfurt, Munich and Dusseldorf. One-time entry costs €40 or US$50.

For families with younger children flying from Frankfurt, the Business Lounge in Departure Area B immediately next to gate B48 will be of especial interest. Here the little ones can pass the time in the Lufthansa ‘JetFriends’ area which has a play corner with games consoles and a playpen. So the whole family can enjoy a relaxing start to their holiday.

Air Canada opened its latest International Maple Leaf Lounge at London Heathrow Airport's new Terminal 2, also known as The Queen's Terminal, Departures Area 2B. This lounge is a serene, stylish oasis where eligible Air Canada and Star Alliance customers can rest, refuel or refresh before their flight in an inspiring, contemporary environment.

Designed by Bennett Lo Toronto's award-winning firm dialogue 38 who also designed Air Canada's Frankfurt Maple Leaf Lounge, Air Canada's Heathrow 700-sq.-m. Maple Leaf Lounge provides key features such as :

  • A Quiet Zone comprising three reclining pods equipped with personal satellite-fed TV screens, USB ports and Sony noise-cancelling headsets
  • Spa-inspired shower area featuring showers with large rain-shower heads, ambient music
  • Business Centre equipped with individual flat-screen Dell PCs, colour laser printing and scanning
  • Complimentary wireless high speed Internet access throughout

Qantas opens new Los Angeles Business Lounge

The new Qantas Los Angeles Business Lounge is now open, providing a stylish and spacious preflight home to passengers on oneworld flights, including those of lounge partners British Airways and Cathay Pacific.

The contemporary design reflects Californian culture combined with signature elements from each airline, featuring a communal fireplace to relax and socialize around and a central glass atrium providing natural light and space.

The lounge offers customers menus influenced by multicultural California, a new dining area, a cocktail bar serving signature cocktails and premium wines, and a barista service. Guests can also enjoy an enhanced buffet, faster Wi-fi, new workstations and nine shower suites with Aurora Spa amenities.

From today the lounge will accommodate 400 customers. Upon completion of all phases in early 2015, it will offer seating for 600 customers. This combined with the new world-class Qantas First Lounge, will be more than double the size of the former space.

Qantas International CEO, Simon Hickey, said the new multi-million dollar lounge demonstrates the airline’s commitment to its customers and to Los Angeles as one of the most popular hubs in the airline’s overseas network.

Tom Owen, Senior Vice President, Americas for Cathay Pacific said: “Cathay Pacific travellers are accustomed to a premium lounge experience due to our renowned airport lounges in Hong Kong and around the world, and the new Los Angeles business lounge certainly delivers on this expectation.

Today, Etihad Airways officially opened its new First and Business Class Lounge at Sydney`s Kingsford Smith International Airport. The airline`s first lounge in Australia and newest addition to premium lounges worldwide.

Located in the international terminal’s Pier C, adjacent to Gate 51, the new lounge offers guests a welcoming and relaxing environment with quality furnishings and a contemporary design inspired by Etihad Airways flagship lounges in Abu Dhabi. 

The new Sydney lounge has been designed around the principles of style, space and serenity to ensure that guests enjoy a comfortable environment in which they can relax, dine, work or be entertained before boarding.

Set over two natural light-filled levels and an area of 798 sq.m., the Sydney lounge offers a range of facilities. This includes state-of-the-art business amenities with Apple computers, complimentary Wi-fi connectivity, multi-zone electrical and USB power outlets, bathrooms with shower facilities, children’s play room, separate male and female prayer rooms, hand luggage storage, cloaking facilities and comfortable armchairs in the relaxation zone. 

Lounge guests will also be treated to Etihad Airways signature food and beverage service with a choice of restaurant-style a la carte dining and a sumptuous buffet. Local wines complement an extensive selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including beers, champagne, aperitifs, spirits and liqueurs.

Qantas has opened the doors to its new Qantas Hong Kong Lounge.

Qantas International CEO, Simon Hickey, said the new multi-million dollar lounge delivers on Qantas’ ongoing commitment to creating the best travel experiences for its customers. He said: “The Hong Kong Lounge is stylish and contemporary, designed to reflect the colour, vibrancy and luxury of Hong Kong. It’s the perfect environment for our customers to relax and work before their flight."

The Hong Kong Lounge builds on the success of the Qantas Singapore Lounge, with renowned Consulting Chef Neil Perry designed menus based on his Rockpool and Spice Temple restaurants with regionally inspired flavours and ingredients.

Customers can enjoy a range of dining experiences from the Spice Temple BBQ Bar to yum cha trolleys, an extensive buffet or the locally influenced plate of the day. Spice Temple inspired cocktails will be prepared alongside a world-class wine selection and barista service, to be enjoyed at the bar area with panoramic views across the airport overlooking Qantas gates.

The Hong Kong Lounge seats 300 guests, has 12 showers, a family zone and a flexible working area.

Korean Air has unveiled its new lounge for Prestige and First Class passengers and the SkyTeam customers at Los Angeles International Airport, replacing the airline`s previous lounge.

Located on th 5th floor in the Tom Bradley International Terminal, the new lounge was designed by Gensler, a global integrated architecture and design company which has contributed many innovative design projects for airports around the world.

The new 305 seat, 1,320 sq.m. lounge is 68 percent larger and can accommodate 135 more passengers. Furthermore, the lounge offers exclusive services for passengers, including private lounge rooms and shower booths, a balcony offering panoramic views of the entire international terminal, and a luggage storage area. A sizeable photograph of the Changdeokgung Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, greets passengers entering the lounge.
